Wild and uncontrolled and addicted to alcohol by the time he was 19 years old, Pastor Jerry Sims’ life had not been easy. Raised in a family with an abusive alcoholic father, Jerry sought ways to stay away from home as much as possible. Soon, he was drinking every weekend to get drunk and eventually dropped out of high school. Joining the Army, he found himself exposed to a myriad of drugs and began using. By the time he returned home, he was a hopeless alcoholic, unable to function without a drink. Today, Jerry tells Ken how a Holy Spirit encounter changed his life and gave him guidance toward a new way of living. After realizing his life was a mess and seeing a friend’s life transformed by God’s power, Jerry had his own encounter with the Holy Spirit in his car, parked by the side of the road. God came into his car, touched his life, and he has never been the same.
As Jerry began seeking God, God changed the course of his life. Jerry went on to pursue a life of ministry and today pastors Weatherly Road Assembly of God church in Huntsville, AL. From there, his ministry reaches out to the men in the Outreach Ministry’s program.
